Lion’s Hoard

Lions are known as the kings of the jungle for a reason. These magnificent beasts roam the wilds, generally in Africa, and band together to hunt as a pack, even during storms! In fact, these smart creatures understand that the storms are a great time to hunt because the noise makes it difficult for their prey to hear them – and they are all about landing plenty and keeping it all for themselves.

Red Tiger’s recent release Lion’s Hoard puts players on the board with a pride of lions as they try to locate untold riches, including white and blue diamonds!

Red Tiger’s Lion’s Hoard is a roaring good time! Players can try their luck at outsmarting these clever animals and stealing from their hoard! But be careful – if you get caught robbing the hoard, the results will be less than ideal.

Red Tiger is known for producing consistently beautiful slots, and Lion’s Hoard is certainly not an exception. The colours on both the grid and the background are rich and command attention. Hues of gold dominate the design, with the board full of symbols sporting the precious metal. The gilded grid frame and mysterious structures in the background are similarly adorned and coloured.

Lion’s Hoard features a variety of interesting symbols. The most useful, however, are the White Diamond scatters and the Blue Diamond scatters, both of which look exactly as you would expect.

Lion’s Hoard Casinos

Lion’s Hoard is a 5×4 slot with 20 paylines and a default Return to Player (RTP) of 95.77%. It is a good choice for players in search of high volatility spins. You can wager between €0.10 and €10 and win a maximum of 8,160x, but the real treasure lies with the exciting gameplay that makes every spin a fun one.

With scatters, Diamond Reels, Mystery Stones and wilds, the slot has plenty of features to keep you entertained – at least at first. Let’s take a closer look at Lion’s Hoard and the best that the gameplay has to offer.

Scatters

The main gameplay mechanic in Lion’s Hoard is scatters. Unlike other recent releases, the slot is not content with simply tossing a few symbols on the board and calling it a day. Instead, scatters are built into the fabric of the main game as well as the bonus reels. The White Diamond scatters land everywhere but the middle reel, and more than one of them can land on the same reel.

Are you wondering about what the middle reel contains if not White Diamond scatters? Why, it is filled with Blue Diamond scatters instead! These symbols only land on the middle reel, and if players land one, then all of the sockets above the board fill (more on that later). If the sockets were already full, then the reel multiplier increases by one instead.

Above the grid lies a scatter collector that uses scatters to fill up its four sockets. When all of them have been filled, the reel turns into a ‘Diamond Reel’. Not the whole board, however – remember that the game does not have a bonus round. Instead, only the reel that housed the four scatters transforms.

Diamond Reel

Triggered by collecting scatters, the Diamond Reel feature – named after the White Diamond scatter symbols – fills the respective reel with ‘Mystery Stones’. The stones are locked in place and remain that way for one spin. After the spin, the stones reveal a single matching symbol. From then on, the reel consistently unveils a random matching symbol every spin until they are part of a win.

If more than four scatters land when the Diamond Reel feature is triggered, each additional symbol boosts the win multiplier of its respective reel by one. This continues up to a 96x maximum.

Super Wilds

What slot game would be complete without a wild? Lion’s Hoard offers not just any wild, but a super wild! This symbol is special because it is only produced by the game’s Mystery Stones.

If four of these wilds land, they merge into a super wild reel. This wild is locked in place until it is part of a win line.

Lion’s Hoard verdict

While Lion’s Hoard is an attractive game with interesting features, we miss the possibility of triggering a free spins round. The base game itself is not quite interesting enough to make up for the lack of this feature, though it is certainly not the worst game we’ve played. The default RTP is lacklustre, meaning that the title doesn’t make up for the lack of a bonus round with an excellent hit rate.

All in all, we think that while Lion’s Hoard looks great, the gameplay is just fair. It is not a bad slot, and if you are a fan of the concept or the developer, then you can certainly give it a go. It just does not have the kind of mechanics that make it exceptional.
